Their shimmering bodies reflect light, making them a popular choice among aquarists.

Green Fire Tetras have a slender body with a translucent green hue, and the males, in particular, display more intense red coloring on their fins. Their small size and peaceful nature make them an excellent choice for tanks with other non-aggressive species. These fish do well in well-planted tanks with plenty of swimming space.

The tank should be kept at a moderate temperature range between 72-82°F (22-28°C), and the water should be soft to moderately hard. A well-planted tank with a gentle filter is ideal, as they prefer water that is slightly acidic to neutral, with a pH between 6.0 and 7.5. They should be kept in schools of at least six individuals, as this helps reduce stress and encourages natural behaviors.

Feeding Green Fire Tetras is straightforward as they are omnivorous. They enjoy a varied diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They are also known to forage on small plants and algae in the tank, contributing to the tank's overall health.
